Giving on Purpose (GP) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Statement (Statement) discloses the information we gather on https://givingonpurpose.org/ (Website), the ways we process and share such information, and how you can correct or change that information.

This Statement addresses GP’s privacy practices relating to the general use of GP’s website by anyone (collectively “You”) who visits, browses, or otherwise uses the Website. It is important to read this Statement before submitting your information to the Website. By visiting the Website, submitting information, making a donation or using any of our products or services, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Statement and consent to having your data transferred to and/or processed in the United States.

Collected Information

The Website is intended to provide insight into Giving on Purpose (GP, we, us, or our) and the projects it serves and supports. GP does not require you to register or submit any personal information in order to visit the Website. GP will ask for your personal information to set up an account or project page, or to make a donation, but will not require anything more than what we believe is reasonably necessary.

Personal Information: We may receive and store any information you enter on the Website or provide to us in any other way that would allow us to identify you personally or contact you. The information you provide will be used by GP only in accordance with this Statement.

Cookies: Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behaviour information. When you visit our website, the only cookies we use are ones that are required for the website to function properly but they do not contain any personal or private information.

Data Retention: When you make a donation, we keep the following information

  • Full Name
  • Email
  • Address
  • Phone

Giving on Purpose is required to retain this information ass per IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) public charities for at least 5 years, though best practice advises at least 7 years. If you would like us to delete your information after that period, please email contact@givingonpurpose.org.

Accessing or Changing Your Personal Information: GP allows you to delete, change, or correct inaccuracies in your personal information by emailing GP at contact@givingonpurpose.org and outlining the appropriate changes.

Donations

  • All donations are processed securely through Stripe or PayPal in accordance with their Privacy Policies. See their websites for more details.
  • We accept credit card payments and other payment methods only as supported by our processors
  • Giving on Purpose does not collect or retain any financial information
  • Donations may be tax-deductible; please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance
  • Donors will receive appropriate documentation for their tax purposes
  • You may choose to make recurring monthly donations
  • You can cancel recurring donations at any time in your PayPal account, or by contacting us
  • We will notify you of any payment issues
  • Payment disputes are handled by and through our payment processors’ standard procedures

E-mail Communications: When you send an email to GP, GP retains your email address and the contents of the email. GP does not use that information for any purpose other than for the processing of the email.

Other Information: From time to time, GP may ask you for data that is not personal. This info may be aggregated and used for our internal purposes or for creating reports for third-party advertisers and partners, or otherwise shared with third parties for any lawful purpose, without your permission. No third party is intended to be able to know who you are as a result of the info you share with GP. Any Website usage information that GP gathers, such as the numbers and frequency of users to the Website and pages visited, will only be used as a statistical indicator and not to identify you. This aggregate information helps GP determine general usage patterns and modify the Website in order to improve your experience. This type of aggregate information may be shared with third parties at any time.

How We Use Information

  • To customize, analyze, adjust, and improve the Website to meet our advertisers’ or business partners’ needs and expectations;

Such third parties may be provided with access to information needed to perform their functions, but may not use such information for any other purpose.

Compliance with Law and Fraud Protection: We may disclose any information that we deem necessary within our sole discretion and without your prior permission to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. We may also exchange information with other companies and organizations for credit fraud protection, risk reduction and related activities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GP, its agents, employees or affiliates, or others. Sale or Transfer of Information: In the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, dissolution, or sale or transfer of substantially all of GP’s assets or its Website the information collected about you may be sold, assigned, or transferred to the party acquiring all or substantially all of the equity and/or GP’s assets or Website in order to permit the party to continue the operation of GP and/or the Website, or any successor version of the Website.

Credit Card Information

GP does not collect, store, or otherwise maintain any credit card information from individuals who make a donation through the Website. The information associated with your credit card is processed by Paypal, Stripe, or our partners.
