Recent Activities of Building Blocks India!

The Grand Children’s Day was a truly remarkable event. It began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a heartfelt welcome speech from Mr. James, the founder of Building Blocks India and a graceful welcome dance performed by the staff. The highlight of the program was the array of performances by the children from our centers in Bangalore, centered around the theme of “Cultures of the World.”

The children showcased dances from various continents, adding a vibrant and diverse flavor to the event. They also performed a couple of entertaining skits and mime on the topics of saving trees, nature and respecting women.

We were honored to have esteemed guests in attendance, including a team from Japan. The Marriott Hotel graciously sponsored the meals, ensuring everyone was well-fed and satisfied.

The dance performances were absolutely mesmerizing and left the audience in awe, while the skits and humorous acts brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Overall, the program was a resounding success, thanks to the immense effort and dedication of the teachers and choreographers who worked tirelessly over the past two months to prepare the children.

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm. On this special day, children donned outfits resembling Mahatma Gandhi, and students from K3, K4, and K5 participated in art and craft activities themed around the occasion.

The K5 students showcased their public speaking skills by delivering insightful speeches about Gandhi Jayanti. Additionally, a special breakfast was served to all the children, making the event even more memorable.

This month has been brimming with fun and engaging activities that enriched the children’s learning experience across various subjects. The curriculum spanned arts and crafts, mathematics, science, social studies, and practical life skills.

The children were fully immersed in their learning journey, with each lesson designed to captivate their interest and make education enjoyable. Arts and crafts sessions sparked their creativity, while math activities challenged their problem-solving skills. Science experiments unveiled the mysteries of the natural world, and social studies broadened their understanding of diverse cultures and societies. Practical life skills activities equipped them with essential skills for everyday life.

Our dedicated teachers ensured that each lesson was not only educational but also enjoyable, fostering an environment where learning is a delightful adventure.

Overall, the children’s active engagement and the teachers’ efforts to create a fun and stimulating learning experience contributed to a successful and memorable month of education.

Diwali was celebrated with great zest and vibrancy at our school. The children arrived in beautiful, colorful traditional attire, adding a festive spirit to the day. The school was adorned with vibrant Rangoli designs and lit up with numerous lamps, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere.

Engaging games and activities were organized for the students, making the day both fun and educational. The children actively participated and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, fostering a sense of community and joy.

To top it all off, a special delicious lunch was served.

Overall, the Diwali celebration was a fantastic success, filled with laughter, learning, and lots of festive cheer.

We recently organized a dental camp for all our Jacaranda center children and staff, conducted by Dr. Shyamala Karanam and her dedicated team. The camp provided essential dental check-ups and hygiene education, ensuring that everyone received the necessary care.

In addition, Dr Shyamala and her team held an orientation meeting for all the parents, giving them valuable insights into oral hygiene. The camp fostered a collaborative spirit between parents and our institution, promoting a healthy and supportive environment for the children’s growth and well-being.

June marks new beginnings and exciting milestones at our school. We’re thrilled to embrace fresh young minds at all our centers. The month of June also saw the celebration of the International Yoga Day, honor fathers on fathers day, visitors from Japan and the commencement of school for all grades. With the start of the new academic year, we’re ready to nurture young hearts, minds, and dreams. Let’s make this academic year unforgettable!

Building Blocks has kicked off the new academic year with great enthusiasm. Witnessing the newly admitted children entering our centers was a delightful experience. The warmth and love extended by our center heads made them feel comfortable and welcome. Inside the classrooms, engaging activities, toys, and dedicated teachers created an inspiring environment for the children to adjust seamlessly. From the outset, hygiene practices were emphasized, including handwashing and maintaining clean surroundings. Nutritious meals are provided daily, and our curriculum coordinators have designed a well-balanced program that combines fun activities with practical life skills. It’s remarkable how quickly the children have adapted to their new school environment, forming strong bonds with both teachers and fellow students.

We’re excited to embark on this journey, offering free education, nutrition, and care to this new batch of children.

At the start of each new academic year, an essential aspect is meeting with the parents of incoming children at Building Blocks. During this meeting, parents receive instructions about various rules, regulations, and aspects related to their children’s participation in the program. They also learn about their role in supporting their child’s educational journey over the next three years. Parents are encouraged to actively engage with their child’s learning and growth. Additionally, they play a crucial role in achieving the goals of Building Blocks. Parents are also invited to support the staff and volunteer their time whenever possible.

Children in all our centers celebrated the International Yoga Day. It was filled with a lot of fun activities. The teachers engaged the children in yoga exercises, card-making, and activities centered around the theme of Yoga.  The children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities of the day.

Hosting Megumi and her team from Japan this month was a pleasure. The visit facilitated a cultural exchange and interaction with our children. The visitors, who also sponsor some of our Project +10 students, gifted a bicycle to one of the sponsored students. The team relished a lunch prepared at the center and visited the slum to meet the families of the children they support. Additionally, they attended the engagement ceremony of a former student Hajeera of Building Blocks, whose education was sponsored by one of the Japanese sponsors. They were also happy to know that Hajeera currently is employed as a teacher at our center. The visit was an excellent opportunity for the team to explore the city, interact with the students and their families, visit the schools, learn about the curriculum, and witness the children’s performances and activities. A big Thanks to all the members from Japan for visiting and taking the time with all the students and visiting their homes and families!

We were glad that Ms. Nalini Gangadhar also visited us and joined the Japanese team. Ms. Nalini’s vision and inspiration behind the Educate to Empower organization has brought together about 72 teachers globally who are voluntarily giving free tuitions to Building Blocks project +10 students.  Thank you, Ms. Nalini, for visiting and for your vision and creating a platform of connecting so many teachers with the students of Building Blocks India from across the world.

On the 15th of June, we celebrated Father’s Day at our centers. From the outset, we hold orientation meetings where fathers are encouraged to participate in their children’s educational journey. Regular follow-up meetings are conducted to keep the fathers engaged and informed about their child’s progress in class. On this special day, our K5 children performed Father’s Day songs. We also organized activities themed around Father’s Day. The fathers were deeply moved by the attention, love, and affection from their children, which made them feel very special.

Your ongoing support has been instrumental in providing education, nutrition, and care to these children!
